As women, we often joke and wonder aloud about the differences in approach to life and perspectives between men and women, husband and wives right?

During one such conversation with one of my psychiatry friends; a busy fellow working mom, we shared hilarious stories about the way our husbands “handle” things relating to our kids and homes.

I jokingly lamented, “What is wrong with my husband’s brain?” [Read more…]

How to Eliminate Your Risk of Having a Stroke

Brain strokeI had worked with some service professionals three years ago and it turns out that I am in the market for their services again.

Without going into much detail, this service involves a lot of moolah, a lot of paper work and they like to put up “showings”. You should have guessed what it is by now.

Anyway, I was saddened to find out that my point person on the team had been sidelined by a stroke and had to retire due to disabilities that resulted from the stroke.  [Read more…]

May 12, 2015 By Dr. Carol 2 Comments

stethoscopeIt’s pretty much a given that the general population have no idea about how doctors are trained or licensed. Most know that it is a hard and long process that takes years.

But did you know that most doctors study and train for the rest of their careers, not simply by ‘practicing’ medicine, but by actually sitting for grueling exams every 7-10 years? [Read more…]

Once , a lovely woman who lived half the year in Belize and half the year in California, came into me with a complaint of a 3 month long “bug bite” site on her upper arm that would not heal.

After a brief time taking this history and a focused exam, she consented to having the area lanced and drained so it could finally heal.

Imagine our surprise when out comes the larvae of a botfly! [Read more…]
